SUFFOLK HORSE SURRENDER DONATIONS

GoFundMe for Suffolk Surrender

Circle A Accepts Surrender of 22 Arabian Horses

Circle A Home for Horses recently took possession of 22 Arabian horses from Suffolk, VA. The horses were surrendered by their owners after multiple reports to animal control resulted in a police investigation and findings of neglect.

All are adjusting well to their new surroundings and becoming acclimated to the staff and volunteers who care for them. Due to their previous lack of proper nutrition in the form of winter hay and adequate grain, in our care they are fed multiple times a day according to a strict refeeding protocol. They are receiving preventative care including vaccinations, appropriate hoof care from our farrier, and having their teeth floated.

This is not a typical surrender of a large group of horses. The horses surrendered range in age from 14-31 with the majority being in their late teens and twenties. Additionally, these horses are wild after living in a herd environment on hundreds of acres for most of their lives.

We are pleased to report that the horses in our care are gaining weight and making remarkable progress.

Circle A Earns Continuing Accreditation from TAA

Circle A was thrilled to earn continuing accreditation from the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance. The TAA remains the only accrediting body in thoroughbred aftercare, and their rigorous accreditation process-- including standards which must be met and maintained by organizations seeking accreditation-- is approved by both the American Humane Association and the American Association of Equine Practitioners. The five key areas encompassed by the TAA Code of Standards are operations, education, horse healthcare management, facility standards and services, and adoption policies and protocol.

As one of only 86 TAA accredited facilities nationwide, Circle A is honored to be recognized as an organization committed to the wellbeing of horses.
